Hartford Names New Head of Property Casualty Claims

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: HIG) one of the nation's leading providers of investment and insurance products, announced today that Juan C. Andrade has been named executive vice president and head of the Property and Casualty Operations' claims organization. Andrade, who is currently the deputy head of claims, will assume overall responsibility for the group's operations and its more than 5,000 employees effective June 2. In his role, Andrade will replace Calvin Hudson, who is retiring after a 33-year career with The Hartford.

Andrade joined The Hartford earlier this year from The Progressive Corporation, where he most recently served as General Manager for the Gulf Coast Region, leading that company's largest field claim organization in one of the nation's most challenging insurance markets. Prior to his tenure in that position, Andrade served in a number of senior leadership roles at Progressive, including General Manager of the Southern California, Colorado and Wyoming business units.

Earlier in his career, Andrade worked for the American International Group (AIG) in New York and overseas. Among his roles, he was responsible for AIG's Personal Lines operations in the Caribbean and for multi-line business development in that region. Prior to AIG, Andrade worked for the U.S. Federal Government in national security and international affairs positions within the Executive Branch and the Executive Office of the President. He started his career as a Presidential Management Intern.

Andrade, who is married with three children, graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Political Science. He received his Master of Arts in International Economics and Latin American Studies from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies.
